A concert timed to the 70th anniversary of People's Artist of Azerbaijan, renowned vocalist Elkhan Ahadzade has been held in Baku.

The gala evening was jointly organized by the Mədəniyyət TV and the International Mugham Center with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Trend Life reported.

Guests were presented video materials about the life and work of renowned vocalist.

Secretary of Azerbaijan Union of Composers,Honored Art Worker Sardar Faradzhev, Director of the Mədəniyyət TV, Ramil Gasimov, director Hafiz Guliyev highlighted Ahadzade's great contribution to national art, the development of the vocal school, the education of talented singers.

Further, People's Artist Ali Asgarov, Honored Artists Ilah Efendiyev, Afag Abbasov, Sabina Vahabzade, Gulnaz Ismayilova, Farid Aliyev, Zenfira Ismayilova, Alikhamad Ibrahimov, vocalists Taleh Yakhyayev, Elchin Ahadzade, Aynur Iskandarli performed on the same stage.

In conclusion, Elkhan's brother Tarlan Ahadzade expressed his gratitude on behalf of the family for honoring the memory of talented vocalist.

Elkhan Ahadzade was born on January 30, 1948 in musical family. His creative career began in 1967 in the film studio. J. Dzhabarli, where he graduated from the class of Adil Isgandarov. In 1969 he became an actor of the Russian Drama Theater. In 1972-12977 he studied at the Institute of Arts at the faculty of the musical comedy actor. Further, he worked in the Azerbaijan State Musical Comedy Theater, where he played the main roles in the works "Mama, I Will Return", "Caucasian Captive", "Man from La Mancha", etc.

He played the leading roles in the films "Çətrimiz buludlardır" (1976) and "Üzü küləyə" (1977) and such films as "Həyat Bizi Sınayır" (1972), "Dede Gorgud" (1975), "Babek" (1979). His last role in the film was "Bəylik Dərsi" (2007). The owner of the remarkable baritone on the opera scene created a number of memorable images: Nofel in "Leili and Majnun" by U. Hajibeyov, Escamillo in "Carmen" by D. Bize, Figaro in "The Barber of Seville" by D. Rossini, Shakh Gachar in "Vagif" by R. Mustafayev,etc.

In recent years, he played in the works of Kalman "Exemplary Gypsy, "Merry Widow" by Franz Lehár, "Love on the Stage" by S. Farajov and A.Amirli and other works.

Elkhan Ahadzade died on October 8, 2010.
