The first-ever Street Food Festival will be held in Baku on May 19-21.

More than 20 local cafés and restaurants in the ancient part of Baku - the Old City will offer unique recipes of street food.

Aylin Seidova, one of the organizers of the event, said that the festival, which is celebrated around the world, will be held in Azerbaijan for the first time.

“An indescribable feeling of fresh food and explosion of flavors - right in the Old City, all this awaits you on May 19-21 from 11 am to 11 PM. Those who are looking for new receipts and improve his/her cooking skills are invited to workshops on cooking,” she said, adding that the festival will be accompanied by tracks of the most famous DJs of the city.

Farhad Pashayev, in turn, said that the festival aims to develop food culture in Baku.

“The first ever Street Food Festival is a kind of test, successful holding of which will lead us to our main goal. We want Baku Street Food Festival to become a kind of springboard for new and intriguing concepts in our city. The event is the ideal platform for a certain test on the perception of new ideas at our local market. Next year we will try to attract guests and culinary concepts, not only from the local market, but also from neighboring countries such as Georgia, Turkey, Ukraine, Russia and the Baltic States,” he said.

Lala Hasanova spoke about the main challenges for event organizers.

“With the support of the Administration of the State Historical-Architectural Reserve ‘Icherisheher’, our small but ambitious team began to transform the familiar and favorite area near the "Gosha Gala Gates" into a small paradise for food lovers. We wanted to show the importance of the cult of food in our beloved city,” said Gasanova.

Aysel Huseynova, for her part, said that the Festival will give all cooks the chance to learn something new: to create unique recipes, meet masters of this realm and look into the kitchen of famous chefs and famous restaurateurs.
