Open Dance Cup of Azerbaijan was held in the hall of the Union of Theatrical Figures in Baku.

The event was organized by Azerbaijani Dance Association and with the support of Azerbaijan Youth Union.

The competition brought together about 4,200 dancers aged between 3-43 in categories such as ethnics folklore, folklore-styling, show dance, hip-hop show, Bollywood and cheerleading.

The winner in cheerleading nomination among children became a team of "Karabakh" from Agjabedi region. Cheerleading is a sport which combines elements of the show, and spectator sports (dance, gymnastics, acrobatics).

President of Dance Association and Union of Azerbaijani cheerleading Aziz Azizov congratulated the winners.

"This is a big and complex work for everyone. And the victory is the best proof that the work has been done perfectly. We, in turn, try to attract more attention to our competitions, attract young people to dancing, as well as develop a healthy competition and self-improvement among them. And I think we can do it," he said.

The jury included Honored Worker of Culture Rima Mammadova, head of the department of choreography Gymnasium of Arts Tahir Eynullayev and teacher of the Academy of Choreography Ulviya Hasanova.

The Azerbaijani Dance Association expressed its gratitude to Lenovo and personally Evgeniy Dudchenko for organizational support of the event.

The next event will be a contest of "Baku Autumn - 2017" at the Heydar Aliyev Palace. The program will involve all of the winners of "Baku Autumn" as well as winners of this year's Grand Prix Jamal Hashimov and Nigar Garayusifli. At the end of January Ganja will host competitions of the Kapaz Cup.
