Baku, also known as the City of Winds, brought together Azerbaijan’s mugham masters and Argentinean musicians.
A marvelous show was organized to mark the 23rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Argentine.
The Tango and Mugham project was co-organized by Azerbaijan`s Culture and Tourism Ministry and the Embassy of Argentina.
Victor Hugo Villena's band and national musicians jointly performed on the stage of the International Mugham Center .
Described by the New York Times as "expressing extremes of earthiness and ethereality", Victor Hugo performed with classical music stars like Baiba Skride Jan Vogler, Carrie Dennis at the international «Moritzurg Festival» .
"We are glad that we had the opportunity to visit your fabulous city. With our program, the Baku audience will make a musical journey through time. Through our music, you will see facets of our country, its traditions", said the musician.
The majestic evening was opened by Mr. Carlos Dante Riva, Argentine Ambassador to Baku who thanked the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the leadership of the Mugham Center for support. The Ambassador stressed that the event is held to strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.
Then, the soloists of the "Victor Hugo Villena band" came on the stage. Their flawless live performance thrilled the audience.
The musicians performed works by Juan De Dios Filiberto - "Caminito", Roberto Alvarez - "Mayra", Astor Piazzolla - "Adios Nonino", Dino Saluzi - "Angustias" and many other well-known songs.
After that, People's artist Mansum Ibrahimli together with Kara performed beautiful mughams and tasnifs together with "Karabakh" ensemble.
The audience just didn't want to let the performers leave the stage. Suddenly, Argentinean musicians once again came on the stage. Together with Azerbaijani mugham masters they performed songs "Libertango" and "Trampera".
The excellent performance of the Azerbaijani and Argentine artists created on the stage a special touch.
