The qualifying round of Monin Cup 2016 took place at Hyatt Regency Hotel on September 22

Vagif Mammadov will represent Azerbaijan at Monin Cup 2016. The competition will take place in Paris on December 5, Trend Life reported.

The winners of the second and third places Rufat Mehdiyev and Sergey Bahtin will train at Monin Academy in Russia. All participants were awarded with diplomas and valuable prizes. The young bartenders were also awarded special prizes in different nominations.

The semi-final was attended by 12 professional barmen who presented to the judges their cocktails. Six of them reached the final. Barmen aged up to 27 participated in the contest.

The international jury composed of representatives of Monin company and experts Sergey Alekseev (Ukraine, world champion 2014), Anastasia Sudak (Ukraine), Nikita Sergeev (Russia) and Fadi Akil (Jordan).

"Creative, energetic, friendly people who are constantly looking for new experiences, new friends who continues to fantasize and create new recipes. These are the qualities of those who have chosen to be barmen", said the head of the company Art-nishan MMC Anar Guliyev.

The event also featured workshop by Sergey Alekseyev who shared his secrets of preparation delicious cocktails.

It's the second visit of barman in Baku who immediately saw the creativity of Azerbaijani youth.

For Sergey to be a barman is an art which requires cocktail's recipes and good service.

Good appearance and professional skills, e.g., knowledge of ingredients and proportions of cocktails, good memory, serving skills, quickly service are important features of successful barman

"The barman should be physically fit and resilient because the work requires constant movement even at night. Another important feature is philosophy, which laid the basis for psychological aspects of working with clients. Most people think that barmen are like psychologists who are willing to listen patiently understand them. That's why one of the main secrets of profession is the ability to work with people," said Alekseyev.

In 2014, Azerbaijan was represented by Daria Utugova (chef, bartender, R&B café), in France. The barman entered the top twenty.

The organizers of the competition include French brand "Monin", Art-nishan MMC and Azerbaijan's Association of barmen.
