CARGOLUX marks 10,000th flight to Baku
CARGOLUX, a world leader in air cargo transport,
flew a landmark flight to Baku on November 11. This was the
airline`s 10,000th flight to the Azeri capital since it began
cooperation with the country in August 2001, the state airline,
AzAL, told AzerNEWS.
CARGOLUX President and CEO, Ulrich Ogiermann, arrived in Baku on board the airliner, which landed at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport. He told journalists that when choosing Azerbaijan as a partner, his company took into account the country`s rampant economic development.
"Azerbaijan is an initiator of energy and other projects of worldwide scale. Good conditions have been provided here for entrepreneurial development," Ogiermann said.
At the outset of its cooperation with Azerbaijan, CARGOLUX was flying four flights on a single day of the week in one direction - from Baku to Shanghai. Presently, along with regularly flying to Baku from Europe and the United States, flights are flown from the Azeri capital to Hong Kong, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur and other cities.
CARGOLUX executives believe their cargo destinations could be further expanded by arranging regular flights to other countries, including Iraq, Afghanistan, as well as Central Asian states Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan.
