Spanish Vueling Company is going to open regular seasonal flights Barcelona-Baku- Barcelona in the summer of next year, said the company’s Manager on International Sales Jesus Blanco.
He noted that negotiations on opening the flights are conducting over the past days.
“We plan to complete the negotiations and to embark on flights in the beginning of the summer season, as we did it with many former Soviet Union countries,” Blanco stated.
Blanco did not mention the exact date of the flights’ opening.
He noted that the company opens air services mainly in summer season, which will run into parts of the autumn season. In connection with the market’s need, flights may be conducted during the year with periodicity.
Talking about the flights number, Blanco said that, the issue is discussed. But, it is expected to have one or two flights per week.
The ticket costs of a round-trip will be about 400-500 euros. There will also be some special offers for the passengers.
Earlier this month, Nazim Samadov, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism said that flights between Madrid and Baku are at the final stage and planned to open in 2015.
He admitted that the main obstacle in the way of attracting more Spanish visitors is the fact that Azerbaijan is unknown in Spain. He emphasized the need to increase Baku's commercial activities in this sphere.
