Azerbaijan,UAE consider cooperation areas

The UAE delegation, which arrived in Azerbaijan, to attend the fifth meeting of Intergovernmental Commission on economy, trade and technical cooperation between Azerbaijan and United Arab Emirates (UAE), held several meetings with the state officials.

During the visit, the delegation led by Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, Co-chair of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori met with Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on November 18.

The sides hailed the current development level of political relations between the two countries.

Calling positive the current development of economic-trade relations based on mutually beneficial cooperation, they noted that there is a huge capacity for increasing further the trade volume. In this frame, the sides highlighted the special role of the intergovernmental commission.

At the meeting the sides had an exchange of views on cooperation in agriculture and food safety, tourism, investment projects as well as transportation fields.

The delegation also met Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov, who praised the development of cooperation between the two countries.

Mammadov highlighted reforms carried out in the road-transport complex, as well as large-scale regional projects.

The minister said transport was one of the priority spheres of Azerbaijan’s economy, and spoke of the relations between Azerbaijan and the UAE.

The two sides also exchanged views on cooperation opportunities between Azerbaijan and UAE in the field of transport.

Another meeting of the delegation was held with Emergency Situations Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov.

Heydarov informed the guests about the works carried out in our country on emergency situations, as well as on the activities of institutions that are part of the Ministry.

Furthermore, the meeting stressed the importance of expanding cooperation between the relevant agencies of the two countries in the field of prevention and elimination of the results of natural and man-made disasters.

Noting the long path of Azerbaijani economic development, Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori said that they are interested in close cooperation with the emergency situations ministry.

The sides also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.

Later, the delegation also visited Baku White City project.

The delegation was informed that the Urban Development Project “Baku White City” is carried out under the presidential decree on the approval of the “Plan of complex measures to improve the environmental situation in Azerbaijan in 2006-2010”.

The Baku White City is the largest ongoing project in the Caucasus, covering 221 ha including 39 ha of landscape.

The project’s master plan envisages creation of 10 universal urban districts with each of them offering the residents the best living, working, recreation and entertainment conditions. Baku city will rearrange and expand the Boulevard, the gem of Baku that is situated right at the centre of the Baku Bay.

It involves not only local companies but also foreign specialists. The project creates new investment opportunities for local and foreign investors.
