New business opportunities at Employment Center of Holcim
In competitive market economy, in-equilibrium between demanded skills and existing knowledge creates a room for unemployment. As in other countries, it is the case in Azerbaijan as well. Governments and private sector representatives develop strategies and various projects for decreasing unemployment.
To contribute for decreasing unemployment, in 2011 Holcim Azerbaijan created the Employment Center in Garadagh region. The aim of the Center is to increase employment related opportunities and inform the community members with the targeted social assistance programs.
So far, more than 1,300 local inhabitants have participated in a number of training, 66 people have received targeted social assistance, 220 inhabitants of Garadagh district have been employed and the "Information Service and CV database" have been established for decreasing unemployment in a regular way.
Currently, the Employment Center is widening its area of work by carrying out training on business management, as well as on various vocational courses, aiming to support the establishment of small businesses. It will create opportunities for the inhabitants of the settlement to establish profitable businesses relevant to their profession and carry out independent business activity. Thus, decrease of unemployment will lead to an increase in incomes and to an improvement of quality of life of the people.
