Non-oil products exported from Iran to neighboring Azerbaijan in the first six months of 2013 amounted to about $274 million, economic adviser to the Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan Sayyid Faraj Shahidi told Trend news agency.

The calendar year in Iran begins on March 21.

The main products exported from Iran to Azerbaijan in the reporting period were construction materials, including cement, clinker, raw glass, ceramic tile, as well as iron ore and agricultural products, according to Shahidi.

He also said about $11 million worth of goods were exported from Azerbaijan to Iran in the first six months of 2013.

Shahidi said a large part of the import included timber, lumber, cotton, unsaturated cyclic hydrocarbons and various types of rubber materials.

He added that 301 cars worth around $2,654,000 were exported from Iran to Azerbaijan.

Head of the Astara customs, Jahangir Bakhshi, said earlier that products worth $540,000 were exported from Iran to Azerbaijan through "portfolio trade" in the first five months of this year.

Bakhshi said shuttle trade is mainly carried out between Iran and Azerbaijan and most of the goods are transported to Azerbaijan by tourists.

Iran's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak Ayeen said earlier that the trade turnover between the two countries is $500 million, adding that his country hopes it will increase due to the planned work.
