First IPO to be launched in Azerbaijan
The State Securities Committee (SSC) of Azerbaijan expects the
launch of the first initial public offering (IPO) in the country by
the end of this year, the Committee chairman Rufat Aslanli told
journalists.
"We are working with some companies to launch IPO within the scope
of listing's advisory program. We are optimistic, and we will try
to place the securities of at least one company on IPO until the
year-end. Our research shows that demand for the IPO is several
times greater than supply in the market," Aslanli said.
The State Committee will continue to introduce new tools into the
securities market, he added.
"The main purpose of the infrastructure, which we are creating in
the market, is to expand the list of tools. We expect the emergence
of new tools in the market. The market has not yet been ready for
widespread use of common derivatives, the risks of which cannot be
measured," Aslanli said.
