Inflation hit 1.2 percent in January

The consumer inflation hit 1.2 percent in Azerbaijan in January 2013 compared to December 2012, the State Statistics Committee said on Tuesday.

"In January, food prices rose by 0.6 percent and non-food products - by 0.1 percent," the statement said. "The tariffs and prices on paid services rendered to the population rose by 3 percent."

Last month, the prices on rice, buckwheat, chicken, butter, sugar, granulated sugar, oranges, bananas, beetroot, carrots, and mushrooms reduced. In January, the prices on bread, pasta, fresh fish, olive oil, sour cream, tangerines, apples, persimmons, pears, pomegranates, quinces, greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, garlic, potatoes, cabbages reduced.

The prices on fabric, clothing and footwear, oil paint, parquet flooring and laminate flooring, kitchen furniture, kitchen tables, pressure measuring device, jewelry increased.

The prices on electric lamps, mixers, cameras, cars, bikes and toys reduced in January.

The tariffs for international air flights and notary services increased.
