Pensions to be raised
The amount of pensions will be gradually raised to 90 manats ($108)
in Azerbaijan by the year-end, the State Social Protection Fund
chairman says.
Salim Muslimov told the press that the measure was due to the rising cost of living caused by rallying food prices worldwide. The raise in pensions will initially constitute no less than 10 manats. With the increase of pensions, the average pension in the country will be close to 90 manats, which will offset increasing prices in the domestic market, he said.
Labor pensions currently make up 60 manats ($72).
