AzAL plans regular flights to U.S. from 2014
Azerbaijani state airline AzAL intends to open regular direct flights to the United States in 2014, spokesman Maharram Safarli said.
Safarli told Trend news agency that the opening of regular flights to the U.S. will be possible after obtaining in 2014 two 787 Dreamliner aircraft manufactured by Boeing Corporation.
Safarli also said that on Tuesday, for the first time in the history of the country`s civil aviation, Azerbaijan Airlines (AzAL) carried out a commercial Baku-Washington flight on board Boeing 767 aircraft. The plane took off from the Azerbaijani capital at 11:30 local time and landed at the Dulles airport in Washington 10 hours thereafter.
``The flight was implemented on orders from the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR). There were 38 businessmen on board,`` Safarli said.
AzAL acquired Boeing 767 aircraft in the summer of 2011.
