Azeri investments in Belarus expected to surge in 2012 - ambassador
Azerbaijani investments in Belarus as of the end of 2011 are expected to hit around $15-20 million with a prospect of significant growth in 2012, the Belarusian ambassador in Baku has said.
Nikolai Paskevich told a press conference on Tuesday that Azerbaijani investors take interest in Belarus’ privatization program.
He said that at present, three Azerbaijani investment projects - on the construction of a trade and logistics center, a business center and catering outlets in Minsk and Belarusian regions - are being implemented.
Paskevich said the Belarusian-Azerbaijani trade turnover increased seven-fold to reach about $900 million over the first 10 months of 2011. Belarusian exports to Azerbaijan increased 1.4 times to $180 million, while Azerbaijani exports to Belarus surged by more than 140 times to reach $720 million.
