Two Azeri cellular operators licensed for 3G services
The Azerbaijani government has granted licenses to local cellular operators Azercell and Bakcell for the provision of 3G services.
The communications ministry passed the decision at its board meeting devoted to the outcomes of nine-month-long activity, it said in a statement on Wednesday.
At present, only Azerfon company is licensed to provide 3G services in Azerbaijan. The other two cellular providers have repeatedly said they were also ready to provide such services and had the required infrastructure.
The communications ministry has also suggested that all three companies submit proposals on introducing the cutting edge 4G cellular communication services.
