Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan discuss economic coop

Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan signed a protocol during the meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Baku on Thursday.

The meeting was chaired by Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Minister Natig Aliyev and Kazakh Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sauat Mynbayev

The meeting stressed that certain work was done to further develop bilateral cooperation since the last commission meeting held in November 2010. Joint projects were implemented in accordance with the signed agreements.

Aliyev said trade turnover between the two countries is not satisfactory. The figure was over $ 340 million as of last year and about $ 150 million as of the first half of 2011. At present, Azerbaijan's exports to Kazakhstan exceed imports, he said.

"Despite this, Azerbaijani and Kazakh sides have every opportunity to increase bilateral trade turnover," Aliyev said.
