Azerbaijan’s gold reserves 390 kg: minister
BAKU – Azerbaijan’s gold reserves total 390 kg and are estimated at $19 million, Finance Minister Samir Sharifov has said.
Gold is produced in the country under a production sharing agreement signed in 1997 with the US-based R.V. Investment Group, with the Azerbaijani government holding a 51 percent stake. The PSA covers six deposits located in the Nakhchivan autonomous republic, the Tovuz and Gadabay regions as well as three regions that are currently under Armenian occupation. The fields hold about 400 tons of gold, 2,500 tons of silver and 1.5 million tons of copper.
