Georgia keen on Azeri investments
BAKU – Georgia calls on Azerbaijani businessmen to make investments in the country, its official said as the neighboring South Caucasus republic presented its business opportunities in Baku on Tuesday.
Georgian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Archil Kekelia said in his remarks that there is essentially no corruption, tax rates are very low and there are no red tape obstacles for doing business in the country.
"But the main point is that Georgia is the top reformer, according to a World Bank rating. Therefore, there is every opportunity for Azerbaijani companies to invest there," Kekelia said.
The deputy minister said Azerbaijan is one of his country’s key trading partners. He noted that the trade turnover between the two countries made up $500 million in 2010. In the first quarter of 2011, growth was posted both in imports and exports.
"Bilateral relations have been expanding by the year, and I think we will see a further growth in the future," the Georgian official added.
Kekelia stressed the potential to further expand cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan in fields including agriculture and the food industry, tourism, transport and the construction sector.
