Over 8,000 expats work in Azerbaijan: govt
BAKU – More than 8,000 foreign citizens from 87 countries work in Azerbaijan, according to official estimates.
Rauf Taghiyev, who heads the State Labor Inspectorate, said over half of the expatriates are Turkish nationals.
As for illegal labor migrants, most of them are ethnic Azerbaijani citizens of neighboring Georgia, he said.
Taghiyev added that the quota on labor migrants set by the government for 2011 is 9,875 people.
