Finnish engineering major’s execs to hold talks in Baku
A delegation of Finnish engineering group Wartsila, led by its Vice
President, Christoph Vitzthum, will hold a broad meeting at
Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Industry and Energy on Wednesday,
according to the ministry.
During the meeting, to be joined by senior experts from numerous Azerbaijani state-run companies, Wartsila will present its work based on cutting-edge technology.
Azerbaijan is one of Wartsila’s key partners in the resource-rich Caspian region. The company is mainly engaged in the domestic oil and gas industry, generating electric power and naval shipments. It has been operating in Azerbaijan for ten years and employs 90 people in the country.
From 2005-2010, Wartsila successfully completed projects on building and launching 880 MWt module-type power plants in Azerbaijan. The company presently runs seven power stations in the South Caucasus republic.
Wartsila’s equipment has also been used in such a key project of global scale as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, which transports Azerbaijan’s crude to world markets through Georgia and Turkey.
WARTSILA has 160 subsidiaries in 70 countries around the world. The company, which employs 18,000 people, posted net sales amounting to 5.3 billion euros in 2009.*
