Azeri metal-cutting machine maker up for grabs
An investment tender has been announced for the shares of Baki
Dezgahgayirma, a major producer of metal-cutting machines in
Azerbaijan, according to the State Committee on Property
Issues.
Along with local businesses and private businessmen, foreign investors may also submit their bids for the joint-stock company’s privatization.
The Baku-based enterprise, with capital stock of nearly 1.786 billion manats ($2.232 billion), began operating in 1982. The plant produces different types of metal-cutting machines and equipment for them.
890,300 shares, which make up 99.7 percent of Baki Dezgahgayirma’s capital stock, have been offered for sale. The shares are valued at more than 1.780bn manats ($2.225bn).
Bidders seeking to participate in the investment tender are to submit an investment program meeting a number of requirements outlining ways of streamlining the company’s operation in order to ensure that production meets the highest standards. The tender participants are to ensure bringing in cutting-edge technology and purchase and installation of the necessary equipment, as well as to make proposals on ways of increasing the variety of goods to be manufactured. Bidders are also to transfer at least 600,000 manats ($750,000) to the state budget and 25,000 privatization cheques to the State Committee.*
