Former EBRD Baku head joins Azeri bank’s board
Amrahbank, one of Azerbaijan’s oldest and leading commercial banks,
on Wednesday announced the appointment of Aygen Yayikoglu, former
head of EBRD Resident Office in the country, as its new Supervisory
Board member, the bank reported.
Yunis Ildirimzade, Amrahbank Board Chairman and founder, said Yayikoglu's wealth of local and international experience in finance and public sectors "will be invaluable and add a new dimension to our board."
"I am confident that his strong leadership record and wide finance industry knowledge will ensure our quality driven growth can be achieved under sound strategy and robust corporate governance."
Yayikoglu, the founder and managing partner of Crescent Capital, an investment firm based in Istanbul, said he was very pleased to become a non-executive board member in Amrahbank, whose Azerbaijani and Bahraini shareholders he has known for many years.
"Amrahbank is a high-growth, dynamic local bank with international corporate governance standards and I look forward to contributing to the Bank's future success."
Yayikoglu has 14 years of experience in emerging markets project finance covering central and eastern Europe, the former Soviet states and Turkey. After spending eight years at the EBRD’s Headquarters in London, he spent the last six years in the field, first heading the EBRD’s country offices in the Balkans and Caucasus, and more recently helping establish the International Finance Corporation's regional infrastructure team based in Istanbul.
Amrahbank was established in 1993. 49% of its shares are held by the Bahrain-based International Investment Bank. Amrahbank offers a wide range of retail and corporate banking products such as deposits, loans, money transfers, documentary transactions and investment advisory services. Amrahbank has one of the largest branch networks spanning across Baku and a number of Azerbaijani regions.*
