Azeri president meets head of renewable energy council
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has received
general chairman of the World Council for Renewable Energy, member
of the German Bundestag (parliament) Hermann Scheer.
Scheer praised Azerbaijan’s economic development, saying the South
Caucasus republic had great potential in the energy sector. Mr.
Scheer said President Aliyev placed a particular emphasis on
effective use of renewable energy, adding that he had arrived in
the country to familiarize himself with existing opportunities.
President Aliyev pointed out that all fields of the Azerbaijani
economy are developing. The president said Azerbaijan’s successful
energy policy has created a solid basis to ensure long-term energy
security of the country.
Aliyev said Azerbaijan attaches particular importance to creating
alternative energy sources, adding that the country was open to
cooperate with the leading world nations.*
