UN approves Azeri-backed trans-Eurasia ICT project
The United Nations General Assembly has adopted a resolution
supporting the Azerbaijani government’s initiative to create the
Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway, according to the Ministry
of Communications and Information Technologies.
The resolution supporting the UN project underscores the ICT’s special role in facilitating the regional states’ integration into a globalizing world economy and poverty reduction, driving economic growth and social development, increasing women’s role in society, promoting tolerance, and eliminating the "digital divide".
The UN welcomed the Azerbaijani government’s initiating the ambitious project and its readiness to coordinate bringing together the regional states to materialize the project.*
