Inflation to rise in 2010: officials
Inflation is expected to speed up in Azerbaijan in 2010 and make up 5-7% by the year-end, with the increase mostly projected on food prices, the State Statistics Committee chairman has said.
Arif Valiyev said that along with monopolies, the inflationary rises are due to artificial price hikes.
He noted that in 2009 prices for consumer goods and service fees increased 1.5% in comparison with 2008. Non-food prices rose 3.4% and fees 7.1%. However, food prices decreased 1.5%.*
