Minister predicts reduction in grain output
Grain production is expected to decrease in Azerbaijan in 2010,
Agriculture Minister Ismat Abbasov has said.
According to him, the anticipated reduction is due to problems with timely allocation of subsidies to farmers by the Finance Ministry. "Another reason is baseless check-ups in most grain-growing regions that have taken several months. And, since those audits, which produced absolutely no results, came at a time of soil-plowing and sowing, grain production is expected to be somewhat less next year."*
