Serious steps are being taken for the establishment of the innovation ecosystem in Azerbaijan and the development of startups.
The development of startups and the implementation of technological transfer in Azerbaijan further accelerate innovation development in the country.
As the startups are mainly related to the development and application of new technologies, Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and High Technologies is taking important measures to support startups in the country.
Three projects organized by the Center for Business Incubation and Acceleration of the Innovation Agency under the Ministry of Transport, Communication and High Technologies are participating in Chile's Start-up Chile acceleration program.
Tural Karimli, director of Azerbaijan's High Tech Park, informed about the startups at a meeting with Gabriel Jara, Charge d'Affaires of Chile in Azerbaijan, at the Innovation Agency.
Jara got acquainted with the conditions created at the agency, the laboratory and the center for business incubation and acceleration.
Karimli informed on the activities, plans and events of the agency in the field of high technologies.
He talked about the innovation ecosystem in the country and discussed the possibilities of cooperation between the two countries in the relevant field.
He noted that three residents of the center for business incubation and acceleration are currently participating in the Start-up Chile acceleration program in Chile.
Jara stressed that in the future, the Chilean embassy will support more startups to participate in this program.
The Innovation Agency’s goal is to create a dynamic innovation system in the country that serves to transform ideas into products to get access to the market. Within this process, the main goal is to create conditions for the production and export of innovative and technological products under the Made in Azerbaijan brand.
Recently, a joint consortium has been established with the participation of the Innovation Agency under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, AzInTelecom LLC and companies Lenovo, Nutanix, and iQRex to ensure the participation of startups in tenders held by various government agencies and individual companies, as well as in important projects and to support them in this field.
The consortium will provide local startuppers with an opportunity to get access to various financial sources, to take part in important projects, including large and medium-sized tenders.
A strategy for innovative development will be developed in the country. Boston Counsulting company has already been involved in this direction as an expert.
