Azerbaijan and Egypt to open air flights
Direct air flights will soon begin operating between
Cairo and Baku, Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad al-Orabi
said in Baku.
``Direct air flights between Egypt and Azerbaijan will open a new stage in the development of economic relations between the two countries,`` he said.
Al-Orabi attended a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Black Sea Economic Organization (BSEC) in the Azerbaijani capital.
Egypt hopes for expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan in the tourism and oil and gas fields, as well as supplying construction materials to Azerbaijan.
``Though Egypt is a gas producer and sells ``blue fuel`` to its neighbors, it could cooperate with Azerbaijan, which is a major rival in the gas sector,`` al-Orabi said.
According to the State Statistics Committee, the commodities turnover between Azerbaijan and Egypt exceeded $12 million from January to August 2009.
