Pressure on Turkish businessmen `baseless rumors`
The Azerbaijan-Turkey Businessmen Association (ATIB)
has dismissed allegations that Turkish businessmen are facing
pressure in the country.
``The circulating rumors about pressure on Turkish businessmen in Azerbaijan are absolutely baseless, and they continue working here as before, just like other local and foreign businessmen operating in the country,`` the union said in a statement.
The ATIB called on citizens of both countries to ignore such provocations.
The statement comes amid a cool-down in bilateral relations. Turkey`s recent agreement on normalizing ties with Armenia, Azerbaijan`s long-time foe, have raised concerns in Azerbaijan, but Ankara has repeatedly stated it would not take any steps contradicting its ally`s interests.
