Azerkhalcha perfects carpet production

The Azerbaijani carpet is a traditional handmade textile of various sizes, the beauty of which cannot be described by just words. On the practical side, quality raw materials are part and parcel of a carpet.
On June 24, Azerkhalcha OJSC received the carpets woven in its branches in Gabala, Ismayilli, Gobustan, Absheron and Nardaran.
Neva Agaliyeva, head of the department of artistic creativity and quality control, said that of the 106 carpets received, six were woven in Gabala, 20 in Ismayilli, 21 in Absheron, and 45 in Nardaran.
During the carpets reception, experts estimate the quality of the carpets. Quality is determined depending on the density and standards of weaving, and neatness of the design of the carpet’s edges.
Branches in Gabala, Ismayilli and Gobustan prefer to weave Shirvan carpets, while the Absheron and Nardaran branches prefer to make Baku carpets.
Ismayilli and Gabala branches, which have been manufacturing carpets since 2017, wove 1,336 square meters, whereas branches in Gobustan, Absheron and Nardaran, which have been operating since 2018, wove 441.4 square meters of carpet.
At the carpets reception, the experts decided that the carpets woven in Ismayilli were of the best quality.
Speaking about the importance of carpets reception with the participation of specialists at Azerkhalcha branches, the Chairman of the Board of the company Vidadi Muradov noted that this process had a positive effect on the improvement of productivity and quality. Also, along with achievements, manufacturing defects were discussed, which will prevent their further repetition.
The chairman said that regular training courses organized by Azerkhalcha made contribution to the formation of professional weavers.
“Professional weavers working in branches of the company weave carpets according to the traditions of the old carpet weaving and to the standards of the world market,” he noted.
The main objective of Azerkhalcha is the production and export of carpets and carpet products, organization of their sales in the country and abroad, application of new technologies in the production of carpets and carpet products, modernization and effective use of the material and technical base, and implementation of other activities related to the development of this field.
At present, 830 weavers and administrative employees work in the Fuzuli, Shamkir, Guba, Khachmaz, Agdam, Ismayilli, Gabala, Agstafa, Gazakh and Tovuz branches.
Introducing to the world the Azerbaijani carpets woven on the basis of local raw materials as a true brand of Azerbaijan is one of the main tasks set before Azerkhalcha. Therefore, the company strives to expand connections with international organizations and companies specialized in carpet making, thereby restoring and promoting the position of Azerbaijani carpets in the international carpet market.
