Azerbaijan and Russia are considering draft agreements on commercial shipping and on rules and conditions of navigation of Azerbaijani vessels in the internal waterways of the Russian Federation, Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan Ramin Guluzade said in his speech at the 9th Azerbaijan-Russia interregional forum.

"Based on broad potential, the transport cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia is developing rapidly in many areas, not only at the level of state agencies, but also in the private sector, in science, education and training of specialists. We closely cooperate in organization of international transport corridors," Guluzade said.

The minister noted that the annual growth of freight and passenger traffic between Azerbaijan and Russia is a positive factor.

"There are six international airports in our country, five of which are used for about 100 regular flights between different cities of Azerbaijan and Russia. There are more than 30 regular bus routes in many directions. The road freight transportation is carried out successfully based on bilateral quotas," the minister said.

The cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, Guluzade said, is also expanding on roads and road infrastructure, and currently Azerbaijani construction companies are actively involved in road construction in Russia.

"The construction of a new bridge on the Samur River began in October last year. The project will help increase the transportation of passengers and cargo between our countries, as well as create favorable conditions for development of friendly relations between our peoples. I hope the construction of the bridge will be successfully completed in the near future," Guluzade said.
