South Korea funding cadastre project
The South Korean Foreign Ministry and the Azerbaijan
State Land and Mapping Committee on Tuesday signed a grant
agreement on a project aiming to improve the country`s cadastre
system.
The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has allocated a $1.5 million grant to implement the 18-month-long project, which envisions collecting in a single system data on the reserves of land in selected pilot areas and its composition.
Garib Mammadov, the Committee chairman, has told journalists that the first-ever city cadastre will be created at the expense of S. Korea`s technical assistance in Azerbaijan. This new system, which is non-existent in the entire CIS, will be implemented in the country for the first time.
"A city cadastre implies management of the city`s economy and infrastructure," Mammadov said. "In other words, the city`s streets, roads, the communication system, electricity and telephone lines, as well as buildings, people living there, and their gender and national affiliation, will be compiled in the system. This will simplify urban administration."
