Release of Eurobonds put off
The crisis in world securities exchanges has led to the
postponement of the issuance of Azerbaijan's Eurobonds. Although
work in this area has been completed, the release of the bonds has
not begun yet, the Finance Ministry said. The Azerbaijani
government is thoroughly researching the situation in finance
markets around the world. The current state of things is not
conducive to the release of such securities and the process will
start as soon as it improves, the ministry said. It also indicated
that not only economic objectives but also political factors should
be taken into account to issue Eurobonds.
The government plans to initially place the bonds at the Dublin Stock Exchange. The bonds worth $500m will be valid for five years.
