Heavy rains did not damage agricultural production in Azerbaijan, said Deputy Agriculture Minister Ilham Guliyev said at a press conference dedicated to the opening of the 23rd Azerbaijan International Food Industry Exhibition.

Rainy weather is a positive factor for the development of production in such sectors as cereals, cotton growing and in general for the development of crop production, according to him.

"According to our data, downpour and hail in some mountain regions of Azerbaijan did not cause damage to the production of agricultural products. Of course, we want natural cataclysms in general not to damage the agricultural sector. As for cloud seeders, there are certain reasons why this method can not be used, this is primarily due to the fact that Azerbaijan is currently in a state of war,” Guliyev said.

WorldFood Azerbaijan 2017, one of the most important and significant events in the region’s food industry, will take place from 17-19 May at Baku Expo Center. Over the years, the exhibition has established itself as a leading event in the Caspian region’s food industry. WorldFood Azerbaijan provides a unique impetus for developing the food industry and is rated in terms of the number and quality of food industry professionals visiting.

The organisers of WorldFood Azerbaijan are Iteca Caspian and ITE Group.

A number of leading companies from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Greece, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Russia, Spain and other countries will take part in the annual exhibition.
