Major construction firm reinstates 700 workers
A major Azerbaijani construction company, Akkord,
has reinstated 700 of its employees who had been temporarily laid
off. They will continue working on the Baku-Shamakhy highway that
is under construction and on the concrete-covered road stretching
from Baku to the Russian border, Akkord spokeswoman, Afag Guliyeva,
has said.
The New Year holidays and inclement weather conditions in the country have caused delays and the suspension in a number of construction projects. This prompted Akkord to send about 1,500 of its employees engaged in infrastructure projects on a month-long leave.
Five hundred workers went back to work on January 16, while the remaining 300 are due to be reinstated in the coming days.
