Europe’s stocks fell for a second day after posting their biggest quarterly gain since 2009.

The Stoxx Europe 600 Index dropped 0.4 percent to 395.8 at 8:13 a.m. in London. The benchmark gauge rallied 16 percent in the first three months of the year as the European Central Bank began its quantitative-easing program and economic data beat forecasts by the most in two years.

All 19 industry groups declined. Chemical companies, among the biggest gainers of the previous quarter, dragged the Stoxx 600 lower on Wednesday as Givaudan SA and BASF SE fell at least 1 percent. Technology shares posted the worst performance, with Neopost SA tumbling 5.4 percent after reporting full-year profit that missed analysts’ projections.

Germany’s DAX Index dropped 0.5 percent, after climbing more than 22 percent this year through Tuesday. Among 18 western-European markets, only Greece fell in the past three months, with the ASE Index posting its longest stretch of quarterly declines in six years.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is trying to persuade euro-area creditors to release aid even as he resists demands to increase austerity. The ECB’s Governing Council is holding its weekly review on Wednesday of emergency funds that are keeping Greece afloat, people familiar with the matter said. Warren Buffett told CNBC on Tuesday that the euro region could withstand Greece’s departure from the currency union.

Among stocks moving on corporate news, Barry Callebaut AG jumped 9 percent after reporting first-half earnings that beat analysts’ estimates. Asos Plc climbed 6.1 percent after saying it is confident in the outlook for the second half of the year.

Final data today may confirm manufacturing in the euro area expanded at a faster pace last month, economists forecast before a Markit Economics report at 9 a.m. London time.
