Alekseevna takes women's boxing bronze
Azerbaijan's boxer Yana Alekseevna has won bronze at the first European Games after losing to Katie Taylor of Ireland in the semifinal of the women's lightweight (57-60 kg) category.
"I feel tired after the fight. It was a strong competition and just a tiny step prevented me from winning. Taylor is a worthy opponent. I don't feel pity to be defeated by her. She is my idol after my father. I am a fan of Katie," she said after the bout.
Azerbaijan now enjoys 47 medals, 15 of which are gold, 13 silver and 19 bronze.
