Armenian government brings up aggressive society

By Jamila Babayeva

Armenian children are taught violence and aggression from school.

"The older brother has two candies, the younger one, 12 candies. How many candies should the older brother take from the younger one to create equality between brothers?" It might seem strange, but this is an exercise from a textbook: "Mathematics in school and at home" for 6-9 year-old Armenian schoolchildren.

"One evening Sos's friends caught him, and each one of his friends dealt him three slaps. Sos was dealt only 108 slaps. How many friends dealt Sos slaps?" This is another example of a number of aggressive exercises from a textbook allocated for schoolchildren.

If Armenian children study mathematics by these exercises, which only provoke violence and aggression, it would not be so difficult to imagine the teaching methods for other subjects.

Aggression and education seem to be "two good friends" in Armenia, where teachers may even disable children - the innocent children who come to school to learn skills. Last year, a math teacher at an Armenian school struck a schoolboy so hard that the boy almost went blind, losing his sight by 90 percent. He was disabled as a result of making mistakes while he was doing math exercises.

Now Armenia is keen on teaching violence and aggression at schools with new technologies.

Armenian Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan recently announced the main tasks for 2014. He promised national tablets for newcomers from September 2015, which Armenia plans to produce.

Unfortunately, Ashotyan's priorities do not include provision of heating for schools, 40 of which had to cancel lessons due to heating system problems. The schools suffering from this problem have sent a request to the Ministry of Education and Science, asking it to combine spring and winter holidays.

It seems that since September 2015, Armenian schoolchildren will continue to freeze at schools while they hold tablets in their hands.

Serious problems in the education system also include the small number of schoolchildren. Today, Armenia has more than 300 schools with up to 100 students. In some schools teachers outnumber the students. The Armenian government solves these problems by closing schools. So, the Armenian education sector enjoys the same ranking as other fields for the number of different problems.

It is clear that uneducated society cannot achieve changes in the country's reality, but that seems to be quite acceptable for the government. In addition, aggression can be unmanageable in Armenia considering serious socio-economic problems.

Aggressive society bred up by an original method of teaching violence and aggression at schools is the best which the Armenian government possesses and encourages as a support to its aggressive policy towards neighbors.

As the result of Armenia's aggression 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory still remains occupied and over one million Azerbaijanis are refugees and IDPs.
