Armenian troops violate ceasefire 14 times druing the day

Armenian armed forces have 14 times violated the ceasefire with Azerbaijan on the line of contact over the past 24 hours, Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry reported on July 12.

Armenian armed forces, stationed in the villages of Barekamavan and Voskepar of Armenia’s Noyemberyan district, opened fire at Azerbaijani positions located in the villages of Gaymagli, Ashagi Eskipara and Gushchu Ayrim of Gazakh district.

Moreover, Azerbaijani positions underwent fire from the positions located near the village of Chileburt of Terter district, Yusifjanli of Aghdam, Horadiz and Ashagi Seyidahmadli of Fizuli district and nameless heights of Khojavend district

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts. The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
