Armenian troops breach ceasefire 117 times throughout the day

The situation on the contact line between Azerbaijan and Armenia has remained tense as the Armenian Armed Forces shattered ceasefire a total of 117 times throughout the day, using 60, 82 and 120 mm mortars, large caliber machine guns and artillery, Azerbaijan`s Defense Ministry reported on April 28.

The ceasefire was violated in Kohnagishlag village in Agstafa region, Gizilhajili village and nameless hills in Gazakh region, Agdam, Alibayli, Agbulag, Kokhanabi villages in Tovuz region and nameless hills in Gadabay region, Goyarkh, Yarimja, Chilaburt villages in Terter region, Shikhlar, Bash Gervend, Javahirli, Sarijali, Kangarli, Novruzlu, Yusifjanli, Nemirli villages in Aghdam region, Kuropatkino village in Khojavand region, Garakhanbayli, Horadiz, Gorgan, Ashagi Seyidahmadli villages in Fuzuli region, Mehdili village in Jabrayil region, as well as nameless hills in Goygol, Goranboy, Khojavand, Fuzuli and Jabrayil regions.

In consideration of the operational situation, Azerbaijani armed forces inflicted 121 strikes on Armenian positions.

Azerbaijan and Armenia have been locked in conflict for over two decades. Armenia occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions, after laying territorial claims against its South Caucasus neighbor that sparked a lengthy war in the early 1990s. The UN Security Council has adopted four resolutions on Armenian withdrawal, but they have not been enforced to date.
