During the past 24 hours, Armenian Armed Forces 115 times violated ceasefire on various parts of the contact line between the troops of Azerbaijan and Armenia, said Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry on April 18.

Armenian Armed Forces located in the village of Paravakar of Armenia's Ijevan district opened fire at the positions of Azerbaijani armed forces located in the village of Kohneqishlaq of the Agstafa district and the nameless heights of the Gazakh district.

Azerbaijani positions in the village of Munjuglu of the Tovuz district, were subjected to fire from the positions in Aygedzor village of Armenia's Berd district.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijani positions on the nameless heights of Gadabay district underwent fire from the positions in Armenia's Krasnoselskiy district.

Azerbaijani positions also took fire from the positions near the villages of Goyarkh, Chileburt, Yarimja of Terter district, Shikhlar, Javahirli, Sarijali, Kengerli, Novruzlu, Shuraabad, Garagashli, Merzili, Yusifjanli of Aghdam district, Kuropatkino of Khojavend, Garakhanbeyli, Horadiz, Gorgan, Ashagi Seyidahmadli of Fizuli and Mehdili of Jabrayil district.

Moreover, Azerbaijani positions underwent fire from the positions located on the nameless heights of Goygol, Goranboy, Khojavend, Fizuli and Jabrayil districts.

Azerbaijani Armed Forces inflicted 116 strikes upon Armenian positions.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan.

As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts. The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
