Azerbaijan’s armed forces have prevented another sabotage attempt of the Armenian armed forces, by eliminating roughly 15 saboteurs and military equipment.

The Armenian militaries' attempt was prevented on the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian armies in the direction of Azerbaijan’s Aghdam district, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry reported on March 11.

The ministry further underlined that any sabotage attempt by the opposing side will be decisively prevented in the future as well.

Defense Ministry reported earlier that over the past 24 hours, Armenian armed forces 110 times violated the ceasefire on various parts of the contact line between the troops of Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Azerbaijani positions located in the village of Kohnegishlag of the Aghstafa district and on nameless heights of the Gazakh district were fired at by Armenians stationed in the village of Paravakar and on nameless heights of Armenia’s Ijevan district.

Armenian military stationed in the village of Mosesgeh of Armenia’s Berd district opened fire at the Azerbaijani army positions in the village of Alibeyli of the Tovuz district.

Azerbaijani army positions, located on nameless heights in Azerbaijan’s Gadabay district, were fired at by Armenians stationed on nameless heights in Armenia’s Krasnoselsk district.

Armenian army also opened fire from positions near Gulustan village of the Goranboy district, Chilaburt, Goyarkh villages of the Tartar district, Yusifjanli, Marzili, Novruzlu, Javahirli, Sarijali, Shuraabad, Kangarli, Qaraqashli, Shikhlar villages of the Aghdam district, Kuropatkino village of the Khojavand district, Garakhanbeyli, Horadiz, Gorgan, Ashagi Seyidahmadli villages of the Fizuli district and Mehdili village of the Jabrayil district.

Armenians also opened fire upon the Azerbaijani army positions from the nameless heights in the Goygol, Goranboy, Khojavand, Fizuli and Jabrayil districts.

The Azerbaijani Armed Forces inflicted 115 strikes upon the enemy positions.

Armenian media has recently reported that allegedly Azerbaijani military forces conducted an intelligence and subversive operation on the contact line of troops.

However, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry refuted the announcements, saying they do not reflect the real situation on the front line.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council's four resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
