Armenian militaries fired at residents of Azerbaijan's Aghdam region, where the villagers were repairing artesian wells.

The incident happened in Ahmadagali village, which is situated near the line of contact between the Azerbaijani and Armenian troops, Report informed on May 4.

Thus, during the repair works carried out with financial support of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Armenian side opened fire on employees and techniques of Irrigation Department of Water Management JSC in Aghdam. The ICRC representatives were also at the scene.

No one was injured during the shelling but the equipment and facilities were damaged.

Such attacks show that the Armenian side seeks to cause harm to Azerbaijan and its citizens by making life near the border difficult and risky for them. The Armenian side constantly tries to provoke and sabotage the Azerbaijan Armed Forces on the contact line, but always receives a strong rebuff.

Armenia broke out a lengthy war against Azerbaijan laying territorial claims on its South Caucasus neighbor. Since a war in the early 1990s, Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and over 1 million were displaced as a result of the large-scale hostilities.

Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding districts.
