Armenia keeps high tension on contact line
The Armenian armed units shattered ceasefire with Azerbaijan a total of 10 times throughout the day, Azerbaijan`s Defense Ministry reported on October 17.
Armenian armed forces, stationed in Armenia`s Vozkevan village in Noyemberian region and nameless hills of Krasnoselsk region subjected to fire the positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces located in Eskipara village in Gazakh region and nameless hills in Gadabay region.
The ceasefire was violated near the Goyarkh village in Tartar region, as well as nameless hills in Goronboy and Jabrayil regions.
Armenia ignores all peace processes, which Azerbaijan and OSCE Minsk Group’s co-chair countries try to carry out for over two decades. Ignoring the calls of Azerbaijani side, as well as the whole international community to end the hostilities, Armenia continues its destructive actions.
Since a war in the early 1990s, Armenian Armed Forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and over 1 million were displaced as a result of the large-scale hostilities.
Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding districts.
The occupational and ethnic cleansing policy of Armenia forced over 1 million Azerbaijanis to leave their homes in Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. Nowadays, with a population of over 9.6 million, Azerbaijan is among the countries carrying the highest IDP caseload in the world in per capita terms.
