Armenian troops keep high tension on contact line, breach truce

Despite a ceasefire agreement achieved between Azerbaijan and Armenia in 1994 over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, not a single day passed without the truce violation by Armenian troops.

On October 11, the Armenian Armed Forces tensed the situation once again, by 22 times violating the ceasefire on the line of contact between Azerbaijani and Armenian troops over the past 24 hours, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry reported on October 12.

So, Armenian armed units located in the Barekamavan village of Noyemberyan region, as well as from nameless heights of Ijevan region of Armenia, fired at Azerbaijani positions located in the Gaymagli and Balajafarli villages of Gazakh region.

Meanwhile, positions of Azerbaijani Armed Forces were also fired from the occupied villages of Chileburt (Tartar region), Garagashly (Agdam region), Horadiz and Garakhanbeyli (Fuzuli region), Mehdili (Jabrail region) and from the positions deployed on the nameless heights of Goygol, Goranboy and Fizuli regions.

Armenia ignores all peace processes, which Azerbaijan and OSCE Minsk Group’s co-chair countries try to carry out for over two decades. Ignoring the calls of Azerbaijani side, as well as the whole international community to end the hostilities, Armenia continues its destructive actions.

Since a war in the early 1990s, Armenian Armed Forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and over 1 million were displaced as a result of the large-scale hostilities.

Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding districts.

The occupational and ethnic cleansing policy of Armenia forced over 1 million Azerbaijanis to leave their homes in Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. Nowadays, with a population of over 9.6 million, Azerbaijan is among the countries carrying the highest IDP caseload in the world in per capita terms.
