Azerbaijan Cycling Federation gave start to the season of 2016 with cycling competitions around the stadium roads with support of the Baku Olympic Stadium.
The two-day competition involved over 100 riders from clubs and sport associations.
Among the 15 year-old riders, Emil Aliyev and his team mate Fadail Mahmudov from 8th Olympic school have shared 1st and 2nd places. Nikita Sitov from the Kids&Youth School got bronze.
As for the U17, U23 and Elite riders they have tested themselves on 60km distance in group race. Yunus Vazirov from the Kids&Youth School took first and his schoolmate Bakir Dadashov was satisfied with bronze. Maksim Napertsov from the 8th Olympic School was second for the start of the season.
Cycling is one of the developing sports in Azerbaijan, which dated back to 1930. Since the early 1990s, Azerbaijan hosted a wide range of bicycle contests. The national cyclists continued to participate in Baku and Azerbaijan championships riding 40 km per hour.
After Azerbaijan National Cycling Federation was founded in 1997, the sports became to revive in the country. Although the Federation is too young, but the achievements and the projects that have been put in practice still to give a better result.
