Azerbaijani gymnasts to vie for world medals in Belarus

Azerbaijani gymnasts will compete in the 7th FIG RG BelSwissBank World Cup 2013 to take place at the Minsk Palace of Sports on May 17-19.

Athletes from 27 countries are expected to participate in the event. The RG BelSwissBank World Cup will feature both individual and group events.

The schedule of the tournament includes junior tournament, performances of the best world gymnasts in all-around and individual events and show program.

The Azerbaijan national team includes Marina Durunda and Lala Yusifova in individual and Sabina Abbasova, Irada Akhadzadeh, Mansura Bagiyeva, Siana Vasileva and Aliya Pashayeva in group events.

Six teams will take part in the Crystal Rose junior international tournament (starting on May 16) traditionally held as part of the FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics BelSwissBank World Cup.

The World Cup program will see a number of changes. Group combined events will be divided into two types: the first one is a routine with 10 clubs, the second - an event with three balls and two ribbons. The tournament will be broadcast online. The opening ceremony will be attended by senior officials from the International Gymnastic Federation (FIG) and the European Union of Gymnastics.

The Show of World Rhythmic Gymnastics Stars "Reaching Perfection" will wrap up the competitions on May 19.

The organizers of the tournament are the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of Belarus, the Belarusian Gymnastics Association, the Presidential Sports Club, the National Olympic Committee of Belarus, and the Minsk City Hall. The general sponsor of the competitions is BelSwissBank.
