Azeri weightlifters win 5 medals in European Championship
Azerbaijani weightlifters successfully competed in the European Championship, in Albania. The team totally scooped one gold, two silver and two bronze medals in the tournament.
The gold medal of Azerbaijan came from Valentin Khristov (62kg). Khristov has smashed European records several times in the tournament. The athlete set new records in the competitions of juniors, as well as, under the age of 23 years old athletes.

Ismayilov appreciated the success of the sportsmen as a historical
event for the country and stressed the care of the government to
sports. He also expressed hope that athletes also will compete
successfully in the World Championship.
Last year the national team gained 3 gold and 2 bronze medals in
European Championship held in Antalya, Turkey.
