Football cyber-championship to be held in Baku

As it is known, the final game of the prestigious football tournament, UEFA Europa League, will be held at the Baku Olympic Stadium on 29 May 2019. The game will be the first such decider played in the Azerbaijani capital, according to UEFA.

The 69,870-seat Olympic Stadium was ready in March 2015, and in June 2015 it served as the main venue for the 2015 European Games, hosting the opening and closing ceremonies and the athletic games.

As part of preparations for the UEFA Europa League final, a football cyber-championship will be held on April 25-26. The cyber-championship is organized with the support of the Azerbaijan Cybersport Federation.

The cyber-championship on football designed for those who can transfer football from real life to virtual world will keep football fans excited until the final game. Registration for the cyber-championship lasted from April 12 to April 22.

Due to the growing number of applications, the organizing committee has increased the number of participants. The first 256 registered applicants have had the chance to show their skills. Selected participants will receive a confirmation letter via e-mail.

The draw of the contest was held on April 24. The tournament will be organized based on the rules of FIFA 19 video game.

The participant to win the cyber-championship will receive a money award of 1000 manats ($587). The winner of the final game will also get the chance of being included in the cyber-football team of AFFA (Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan). The runner up will receive a money award of 500 manats ($293). The third place winner will be gifted UEFA Europa League’s official Molten ball and a signed jersey by the organizers.

UEFA Europa League 2019 will certainly contribute to the further development of tourism in Azerbaijan, which will give a positive impulse to the country's economy. The Baku 2019 final game will be another indicator of how the capital of Azerbaijan can host world-class sports competitions.
